Relentless Rains Flood Rongjiang — A Stark Sign of Climate Change
From June 24 to 28, Rongjiang County in Guizhou Province, China, was hit by catastrophic floods following two rounds of torrential rain in less than a week. The Duliu River surged more than 11 meters, submerging entire communities. Cars floated down city streets, subway stations were underwater, and the number of deaths and displaced people continues to rise.

- Second wave: June 28 – River rose another 2 meters, surpassing safety limits

Climate scientists from Peking University have warned that such frequent and intense flooding is no longer a coincidence. It aligns with the growing impact of global warming — as rising temperatures allow the air to hold more moisture, rainfall events are becoming significantly heavier.
“This is not just a local disaster, it’s a climate alarm,” one expert said.
