In Shanghai, China, engineers have carried out a groundbreaking project to relocate the historic Huayuanli Building, originally constructed in the 1920s–1930s. Using more than 432 hydraulic robots, the team successfully lifted and moved the entire 7,300-ton structure to a temporary site.
The relocation was necessary to make way for the construction of a three-story underground facility, planned with the help of 3D blueprints and AI-driven precision modeling to ensure safety and accuracy. The building was moved at a pace of about 10 meters per day and will be returned to its original location once the project is completed.
The redevelopment will create new cultural and commercial spaces, parking facilities, and improved subway connectivity, showcasing a remarkable blend of historic preservation and futuristic urban development.
