U.S. President Donald Trump has signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB), introducing sweeping changes to the nation’s clean energy policy. The new law shortens the availability of tax credits for solar and wind energy projects, requiring developers to accelerate construction timelines to remain eligible for federal incentives.
At the same time, the legislation continues to support key clean energy technologies, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), geothermal energy, and fuel cells. It also expands the Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) rules, imposing stricter restrictions on projects that rely on components or investments from countries considered U.S. national security risks, such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
Industry analysts believe the OBBB will significantly influence global clean energy investment by shifting U.S. policy away from broad-based renewable energy subsidies toward technologies that strengthen energy security, domestic manufacturing, and resilient supply chains.
