“The rainy season has arrived earlier than expected. Thailand enters the rainy season in mid-May — prepare for heavy downpours later this year.”

Thailand officially enters the rainy season on 15 May 2025, as widespread and continuous rainfall has been observed over more than 60% of the upper part of the country for at least three consecutive days.

In addition, the lower-level wind (approximately 1.5 kilometers above the ground) has shifted to southwesterly winds, bringing moist air from the Andaman Sea across the country. At the same time, the upper-level wind (around 10 kilometers high) has changed direction to easterly winds.

These atmospheric changes signal the beginning of the rainy season in Thailand this year.

It is expected that 1–2 tropical cyclones may move into Thailand, particularly affecting the northeastern and northern regions, increasing the risk of flash floods and runoff floods.
