On September 11, 2024, the flood situation in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, there was rain all night and it continued to fall continuously. The water current continued to flow continuously and violently. Many houses were severely affected. Some villagers had to escape the water on the roof.
Throughout the night, many victims were reported to be stranded in their boat houses. In some places, the water level rose as high as 2 – 3 meters, making it difficult to help people. Now in some areas the power will have to be cut off as it can be dangerous.

Currently, Mae Fah Luang Airport, Chiang Rai Province has provided shelter and parking for flood victims, surrounding communities, and victims affected by the flood. Vehicles can be parked on the roads within the airport. A shelter area has been set up for victims in the multipurpose building.
The flood situation in Chiang Rai is currently very worrying. Volunteer groups from many places have started helping people trapped in their homes. It is expected that government agencies will quickly help people in the area soon.
