Expected! Global carbon dioxide emissions may hit a record high in 2024.

Carbon dioxide, one of the main causes of global warming, is released into the atmosphere all over the world, including the burning of fossil fuels, which are currently being burned in large quantities. It is expected that it will reach a record high in 2024.

Scientists say global carbon dioxide emissions, including from fossil fuel combustion, will hit a record high in 2024.

According to the Global Carbon Budget report released at the COP29 summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, global carbon dioxide emissions in 2024 are estimated to be 41.6 billion metric tons, up from 40.6 billion metric tons in 2023 last year.

Most carbon dioxide emissions come from burning coal, oil and gas, and other emissions come from land use, including deforestation and wildfires.

While many countries agreed under the 2015 Paris Agreement to keep global temperature rises from more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, emissions data have been mixed, with emissions continuing to rise, making the 1.5 degree Celsius target unattainable.
