The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a label that provides transparent information about the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle. This covers everything from raw material sourcing, production, and transportation to use and end-of-life management. Results are presented in standardized numerical formats, allowing consumers and business partners to make fair and credible comparisons between products.
How to Obtain an EPD
- Conduct a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to calculate the product’s environmental impacts.
- Compile the findings into an EPD report.
- Submit the report to an independent third-party verifier for certification.
- Register with a recognized Programme Operator (such as EPD Thailand or international systems).
Once approved, the product receives an EPD label valid for five years, which can be used in marketing communications and to strengthen brand credibility.
Why It Matters
The EPD label is not only a mark of an organization’s commitment to environmental responsibility, but also a key to long-term sustainability and competitiveness in the global market.
