**PDP2026 Faces a New Challenge: Designing a Cleaner, More Reliable Thai Power System**
Self-generation through **Solar Rooftop and Solar Floating** is becoming increasingly common, allowing households, businesses, and factories to move beyond being simply electricity consumers and become both **“producers and consumers”** of electricity.
One example is the **Solar Floating project at Nong Kai Tia Reservoir in Chonburi**, with an installed capacity of 5.03 MW. The project is expected to save an average of **THB 6.35 million in electricity costs per year** and reduce carbon emissions by approximately **82,000 tons of CO₂e over its lifetime**.
However, even as more consumers generate their own electricity, **power grids and backup capacity remain essential**. PDP2026 therefore faces the challenge of balancing **clean energy, grid reliability, and fair costs**, while preparing for the continued growth of **EVs, Data Centers, and renewable energy**.
