Japan pushes forward with “e-Fuel” — synthetic fuel made from air, a new clean energy alternative

Japan is accelerating the development of e-Fuel, a synthetic fuel produced from carbon dioxide and renewable hydrogen. Energy giant ENEOS has opened a research center in Yokohama to test real-world production, aiming to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and achieve net-zero emissions in the future.

e-Fuel is a liquid fuel that can be used in conventional vehicles without engine modifications, making it a potential “bridge energy” toward a low-carbon society.

Notably, Bangchak Corporation (Thailand) has joined study and technology exchange programs with Japan, exploring opportunities to adopt and expand this next-generation clean energy in the near future.
