How many people are aware that November 19 of each year is designated as “World Toilet Day”? This day was established by the World Toilet Organization (WTO) and officially recognized by the United Nations. The purpose of World Toilet Day is to serve as a starting point for public campaigns and activities that raise awareness about the importance of clean and hygienic sanitation facilities, which are essential to daily life for the safe disposal of human waste.
Another key objective of the World Toilet Organization is to end open defecation and to ensure that everyone has access to sustainable sanitation services by the year 2030. Special attention is given to the needs of women, girls, and people in vulnerable situations.
