Raw water refers to natural water sources that have not yet undergone treatment—whether from rivers, reservoirs, or groundwater. This type of water often contains sediment, pathogens, and contaminants, making it unsuitable for direct consumption.
However, raw water serves as the essential input for producing tap water. It is pumped into treatment facilities, where it goes through sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection processes before becoming the safe, clean water we use every day.
The quality of our tap water depends greatly on the condition of raw water sources. Protecting these natural water supplies is therefore not only crucial for the environment, but also directly tied to the quality of life and health of communities everywhere.
